 Hari Menanam Pohon Indonesia

Berdasarkan Keputusan Presiden RI Nomor 24 Tahun 2008, tanggal 28 November ditetapkan sebagai Hari Menanam Pohon Indonesia yang dimaksudkan untuk memberikan kesadaran dan kepedulian kepada masyarakat tentang pentingnya pemulihan kerusakan sumber daya hutan dan lahan melalui penanaman pohon.

Pohon sangat penting bagi kehidupan manusia di bumi. Oleh karena itu, setiap 28 November diperingati sebagai Hari Menanam Pohon Indonesia. Pohon mempunyai peran yang sangat penting bagi makhluk hidup. Pohon menjaga suhu bumi tetap dingin, menyerap karbon dan menyaring polusi udara. Pohon juga memitigasi bencana alam dengan mengatur cuaca, menstabilkan tanah dan mencegah erosi.

Dalam Petunjuk Teknis Penanaman Spesies Pohon Penyerap Polutan Udara yang diterbitkan oleh KLHK (2015), disebutkan bahwa 1 hektar Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH) yang dipenuhi pohon besar, dapat menghasilkan 0,6 ton oksigen (O2) untuk 1.500 penduduk per hari dan menyerap 2,5 ton karbon dioksida (CO2) per tahun.

Kemampuan pohon untuk menyerap CO2 merupakan salah satu cara yang efektif untuk mengatasi perubahan iklim. Penyebab utama dari perubahan iklim adalah peningkatan konsentrasi Gas Rumah Kaca (GRK) di atmosfer bumi yang disebabkan oleh aktivitas manusia (antropogenik).

CO2 merupakan salah satu gas rumah kaca utama pemicu perubahan iklim. Melalui proses fotosintesis, pohon menyerap CO2, menyimpan karbon dan menghasilkan oksigen yang dibutuhkan oleh makhluk hidup.

Hanya kekeringan yang akan melanda bumi
Jika turun hujan banjir dan tanah longsor menghampiri

Jika kamu berbuah,
maka buahmu bisa menghidupi banyak insan
Jika tubuhmu besar,
maka dirimu bisa menjadi tempat berlindung kala panas terik

Akarmu,
menampung air hujan dan mencegah kekeringan
Daunmu,
beberapanya bisa menyelamatkan nyawa seseorang

Banyak sekali manfaat darimu bagi manusia
Namun banyak dari mereka tidak tahu bagaimana cara membalasnya
Oleh karena itu,
mari balas dengan menanam pohon yang baru agar tidak punah
